ABSTRACT
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has significantly transformed the academic landscape, with tools like ChatGPT emerging as influential resources for teaching, research, and knowledge dissemination. This study examines the impact of ChatGPT usage among academicians with special reference to Coimbatore City. The research explores how faculty members integrate ChatGPT into their academic activities, including content creation, research assistance, student engagement, and administrative tasks. Using a structured survey methodology, data were collected from academicians across various higher educational institutions in Coimbatore. The findings indicate that ChatGPT enhances productivity, supports innovative teaching practices, and improves access to information. However, concerns related
to academic integrity, over-reliance on AI, and the accuracy of generated content were also identified. The study highlights both the opportunities and challenges associated with the adoption of AI tools in academia and suggests the need for clear guidelines and training programs to ensure responsible usage. Overall, the research provides valuable insights into the evolving role of AI in education and its implications for academicians in a rapidly digitalizing environment.
